The Death Of Traffic Exchanges
August 27th, 2007 by: admin Comment (0)Man, these things are popping up like crazy over the last year or so. With all the new ones coming out, there is a definite saturation of the market. People rush to join the newest one so they can build a downline and get those referral credits. Then they forget about the ones that have been providing them with results. My question is this, why are you wasting your time promoting a traffic exchange. Isn’t that the business owners job?? You don’t see the stockholders of Fortune 500 companies out there promoting the company they hold stock in do you?
Don’t you think you would be much better served promoting yourself? Everyday I surf and it’s the same old thing. Affiliate page, followed by, PTP page, followed by affiliate page. Crap site after crap site. If you are lucky you will find 1 in 10 people that have truly grasped what works well in traffic exchanges. They are the only ones that have grasped the concepts of personal branding and back end promotion. Don’t people realize that all they are really doing by promoting affiliate programs or traffic exchanges is building someone elses list?
Traffic exchanges are a great tool to start the personal branding process, if used properly. Problem is that people are joining every new exchange that opens and dilluting their efforts so heavily that the personal branding process never works. STOP joining these new exchanges that promise the world. They can not deliver! How can you promise quality traffic in an exchange that has less than 1000 members and only say, 30 of them are surfing! If there are 1000 members in an exchange and they all have credits, if that exchange delivers 1000 hits that day, how many hits is your site getting?
Then, you have wonderful people creating garbage scripts, setting up the sites with the most basic of design and selling them on ebay for less than 100 bucks. You have got to be kidding me! A buddy of mine bought the AMCS script for his exchange and it wasn’t even a completed script and this guy is selling this garbage on ebay for less than 100 bucks!! This is the type of stuff that has people saying that traffic exchanges are dead or dying! I for one don’t believe it. But, I have taken the time to learn to use them properly and track my results to find out which ones work and which ones don’t.
You will be best served by starting with the list at Traffic Hoopla or Jon Olson’s list in his newsletterHEN Use these as a guide to pick the exchanges to start with. These are all tested and proven exchanges. Avoid the temptation of joining an exchange because it is new. Find a report that you can give away and set yourself up a squeeze page with your picture and name. Capture the persons name and email address. Build a relationship with them, people are most likely to sign up under or buy from someone they know. Then promote the hell out of them in 10 or 20 of the exchanges listed at Hoopla.
Traffic exchanges are here to stay, there is no doubt in my mind about that one. Unfortunately, as long as their are crappy scripts around that go for under $100 new ones will continue to open regularly too. Hopefully you will be able to avoid the temptation of joining these new ones though. There are plenty out there that will provide you with a large base of potential subscribers. All of the members of these newer small exchanges can be reached in the larger exchanges, guaranteed!
I wrote a little report the other day called TE’s Suck that is geared towards putting newbies on the right path with traffic exchanges. You can download it for free here: TE’s Suck
You are free to give this report away to anyone you know. I hope you enjoy it.
